Auditions, Read-throughs and all you need to know about Beauty and the Beast for 2012

All members should, by now have had a letter about how to get involved in our 2012 production of Beauty and the Beast. However, for non-members and those thinking about getting involved - here is what you need to know:

The read-throughs

New and prospective members are welcome to join us at the Read-throughs. These take place at a member's house (see contact details below) on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 31st August - 7:30pm
  • Wednesday 7th September - 7:30pm

The read-throughs are a great opportunity to get to know other members of the group and hear how the script will come together as a performance. We also do a quick sing-through of some of the songs. If you haven't already got a script you can pick one up at the read-throughs. (Scripts are only available if you have paid your subs). Don't worry if you're not interested in a part - you don't have to take part in the reading - but its great fun to hear all the different characters (from the script - and the group). It may also help you decide which part you'd like to audition for....

The Auditions

If you want to audition for a part, the auditions are held at the same location on Sunday 11th September. Exact times to be confirmed - but usually between 2 and 4pm. You are encouraged to audition for up to three parts - to give the producer a good choice of actors for characters. If you cannot make this date for auditions, then please get in touch (see below) - we can arrange an audition after one of the read-throughs if necessary - although time is limited for these auditions.

Parts

Please notify the producer (again - see below for a summary of contact details) of the parts you intend to audition for. This is to allow Lynda, our producer to ensure that all parts are covered. You may then be asked to audition for an additional role - if this is what the auditioning panel feel they need. You can audition for upto three parts - and you are encouraged to audition for more than one.

Auditioning for Chorus or Dancers

If you do not wish to audition for a part you do not need to attend on the 11th September. If would like to audition as either a dancer or member of the chorus then you will be able to audition at our first rehearsal which will take place on Wednesday 14th September.

If you audition for a part and are not successful this year, you can also audition to be part of the chorus or dancers at this time.

Before auditioning please check that you are available for the following dates:

  • Panto show week - Tuesday 14th - Saturday 18th February 2012 (This includes matinees on the Thursday and Saturday).
  • Costume call - This year costume call will be held in the evening on the Thursday before panto (9th Feb) as this will give us an extra couple of days to sort out any problems with costumes if they arise.
  • Technical and Dress Rehearsals - Sunday 12th February and Monday the 13th February.

Rehearsal for Cinderella 2011Rehearsals

Our rehearsals take place every Wednesday evening (7:30pm - 9:30pm) at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton upon Trent. After Christmas we also had Sunday afternoon rehearsals (2pm - 6pm) up until Show Week. A full rehearsal schedule will be issued.
